I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of Gertrude. She lived a long life, although I didn’t know her, I knew of her. I’ve known Julie for nearly 30 years and often over that time I heard many stories about her mother. I know how much Julie eloved her and how important she was to her. I suspect that Gertrude knew that as well. The pain of losing someone so close to us, we don’tily. know how we will get through it. All of that speaks to a woman who made an impact in her life of her family and extended family. - Posted by: Cheryl McAdam (Friend of the Hewitt family) on: Apr 21, 2026

Was privileged to have met Gert when her daughter Julie and I met and the rest has been history. I not only gained a best friend but an entire family as well. Always felt welcome in her home and was lucky enough to be invited for many dinners as she was a tremendous cook and made the best butter tarts ever!! She was a force to be reckoned with when playing scrabble and I always told her I had to let her win sometimes. She had a quick wit and a great sense of humour. Will miss her beautiful smile and that twinkle in her eyes. She touched my heart in so many ways 💕 - Posted by: Wendy Caron (Privileged to have known this gracious lady for the past 22 years) on: Apr 19, 2026
